Thank you as always for following along with us this afternoon, it was a great game to cover for you. Casemiro was sent off for a lunging high tackle on Carlos Alcaraz in the first half, which means he will miss Manchester Uniteds next FOUR league games. The Brazilian had never been given a straight red card in his career before he joined Manchester United, but has now got two in his last three league games. Oh and the other game was a 7-0 loss at Anfield... There is absolutely no denying he is a world class midfielder, but is going to have to stop making silly mistakes like this is United are to depend on him to anchor their midfield. His first game back will be against Chelsea in the league. This is how the match stats looked at full time. Both teams had four shots on target, with Southampton edging the game in terms of possession, which is hardly surprising considering they played the majority of the game with an extra man. Overall, a draw is a fair result considering how the game went, and you would argue that neither team really deserved the victory despite both coming close and hitting the woodwork. Man of the match today from SunSport goes to David De Gea. There is definitely an arguement to be made for Bazunu in the Southampton goal, but the Spanish stopper denied Theo Walcott twice from opening the scoring. He made a number of great saves to keep the score at 0-0, and therefore picks up the prestigious award today. Full-time at Old Trafford, and it ends goalless. There were plenty of chances and an all-important red card for Casemiro but no goals today. Bella Kotchap has gone down in a heap in Manchester United penalty area. The medical staff are on to give him a hand. Alejandro Garnacho has been replaced by Fred. Harry Maguire comes on for Lisandro Martinez. Just two minutes to go plus stoppage time here at Old Trafford. United charge forward with Garnacho, but to no avail as Southampton defend well again. United have tried and tried to get this first goal, but it isnt quite coming for the Red Devils. We have seen them score late on multiple occasions this season, will they do it again? Garnacho is back on the field for United, and seems to have made a good recovery after things looked worrying for him just a minute ago. Theo Walcott is being replaced by Paul Onuachu for Southampton. Garnacho is down just next to the six yard box after a tackle from Kyle Walker Peters. The stretcher is out for the Argentine winger, it doesnt look too good. Manchester United fans think they should have a penalty as Marcus Rashford goes down. However, it is his own foot that trips him. Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri are being readied for Manchester United now. Southampton take a corner short and Kyle Walker Peters hits the post with a scorcher of a strike! Manchester United are not giving up here, with Maguire, Malacia and Dalot all warming up on the bench. Manchester United are inviting the pressure on here, and are looking to break with pace with Antony when they can. It almost works perfectly for them, as Antony finds Shaw, but the left back brings it down on his chest and then sees his shot blocked by Kyle Walker Peters. Sulemana almost opens the scoring after Perraud got free down the left hand side. There is adjudged to be a foul in there from the Southampton attacker, and the attack breaks down. United free kick in their own penalty area. Manchester United win a corner, and Luke Shaw plays it short to Jadon Sancho. Sancho gives it back to Shaw, but his cross is high and wide. Fernandes plays the ball directly into the path of Che Adams, but Lisandro Martinez comes along and cleans up his team mates mistake. James Ward Prowse hits the crossbar! He is so good from that dead ball situation, but is denied the goal by a matter of inches. Carlos Alcaraz is replaced by Stuart Armstrong for Southampton. Anthony Taylor is having a tough time out there on the turf at Old Trafford today. Bruno Fernandes is adjudged to have given away a foul, and James Ward Prowse will have another go from a free-kick. It is certainly in JWP territory, if you will. It looks like they are going for it. Walker Peters gets past Marcus Rashford and gets the cross in, it hits Scott McTominay who is trying to stop the cross and almost turns the ball into his own net! His blushes are spared by Aaron Wan Bissaka. Underway in the second half, and we have a Southampton throw early on in the defensive half. It will be interesting to see if The Saints are able to really go for this game in the second half. This is how the match stats look at half-time. It has been an open game, and one that is only going to get more interesting as Southampton look to take advantage of United having only ten men. That is all for what has been a very open first half of football here at Old Trafford. Casemiro saw red, Lisandro Martinez is on a yellow and there have been a few penalty shouts for the home side. However, no goals as of yet, and the second half is perfectly poised. Manchester United fans are convinced that they should have a penalty there. Rashfords left wing cross strikes Bella Kotchap as he goes to ground to clear it. It looks like the ball rolled up his thigh before hitting his hand, no penalty.
